The Rolling Stones sign with Decca Records in London who had turned down The Beatles the year before…


The Beatles' famous audition for Decca Records took place in London on New Year's Day in 1962…Rowe was the man who infamously turned down signing a promising new group called The Beatles to his label….He told the Beatles manger Brian Epstein "Guitar groups are on their way out Mr. Epstein"…!


On a recommendation by The Beatles guitarist George Harrison…

The head of A&R at Decca Records Dick Rowe went out to catch a show by a group called The Rolling Stones on May 5, 1963….Rowe caught the band at the Crawdaddy Club in London…within the week…the band was signed to the label…!
