The 1970 Isle of Wight Festival - Photographs & Videos

August 26, 2016

The three-day 'Isle of Wight Festival'

was held between

the 26th and 31st of August in 1970

at Afton Down

an area on the western side

of the Isle of Wight

in England

The Isle of Wight Festival

was the last of three consecutive music festivals

to take place on the island between 1968 and 1970

and was widely acknowledged

as the largest musical event

of its time with 600,000

and possibly 700,000 people

in attendance which was much greater

than the crowd at the Woodstock Music & Art fair of 1969
