Today in 1975 Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks both join Fleetwood Mac

January 1, 2017

Mick Fleetwood asked Lindsey Buckingham

to join his Fleetwood Mac band on New Year’s Eve in 1974

The recent departure of Bob Welch meant Buckingham would become

the group’s seventh guitarist in just seven years

That gave Buckingham some leverage

which he used to arrange for a package deal

with his girlfriend Stevie Nicks

Fleetwood had already heard

a recording of Buckingham Nicks’ “Frozen Love” and happily obliged

The official addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks

on New Years Day in 1975

meant the classic-era lineup of Fleetwood Mac
