Ray Davies of The Kinks

was forced to make a 6,000 mile round trip from New York to London

to record one word in a song on June 3rd in 1970

Ray had to change the word 'Coca- Cola' to 'Cherry Cola'

on the bands forthcoming single 'Lola'

due to an advertising ban at BBC Radio

Lola is a song written by Ray Davies 

and performed by English rock band the Kinks 

on their album Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One

The song details a romantic encounter

between a young man and a possible transwoman

whom he meets in a club in Soho, London

The narrator describes his confusion in the song

towards a person named Lola

who "walked like a woman but talked like a man"
